Corsera news Milano Sinner beats Djokovic, flies to the final of the 2024 Australian Open

Jannik Sinner beats Novak Djokovic in the semifinals at the 2024 Australian Open and flies to the final. The Italian, number 4 in the world, today 26 January beats the Serbian, number 1 in the ranking, 6-1, 6-2, 6-7 (6-8), 6-3 in 3h21' and for the first time in his career he will play a final in a Slam tournament. The 22-year-old from South Tyrol won the challenge on the Rod Laver Arena court with an almost perfect performance: he didn't even grant a break point to the best player in the world, who only got going in spurts and made 54 gratuitous errors. Sinner makes fewer mistakes (28 unprovoked errors), attacks at the right moment (15 points on net from 18 dives) and obtains important points from the serve (9 aces) even if the percentage of first balls remains revisable (58%). Sunday 28 January - in the Italian morning - Sinner will face the winner of the second semi-final, scheduled between the Russian Daniil Medvedev and the German Alex Zverev.

Sinner is the fifth Italian player to reach a Slam final in men's singles, the ninth overall between men and women. At age 22 years and 165 days, he is the youngest men's singles finalist at the Australian Open. Djokovic, winner 10 times in Melbourne, loses for the first time in a semi-final in the Australian Slam.
